چکیده

Background: Distinguishing between pleural epithelioid mesothelioma, lung adenocarcinoma, and poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is a challenge in some cases. A panel of markers has been recommended by the International Mesothelioma Interest Group (IMIG) guideline to differentiate mesothelioma from adenocarcinoma SCC. However, use novel highly specific immunohistochemical (IHC) still required. Objectives: This study aimed evaluate glypican-1 (GPC1) expression SCC, correlating its with known clinicopathological parameters clarify diagnostic prognostic value. Methods: included seventy specimens designated as 20 cases 30 GPC1 was evaluated using immunohistochemistry (IHC). The data analyzed statistically SPSS software 25. correlated different clinicopathologic Chi-square test. conducted according local Ethical Committee regulations. Results: detected positive reactivity all (100%) which increased large-sized, high grade, advanced stage tumors, presence lymph node metastasis (LNM). In contrast, absent about 93% cases, only 2 exhibited weak focal expression. Conclusion: Our findings demonstrated that upregulated pulmonary SCC; tumors more biological behavior.

Differential expression of glypican-3 (GPC3) in lung squamous cell carcinoma and lung adenocarcinoma and its clinical significance.

In this study, we examined the expression of glypican-3 (GPC3) in the 2 most common histological types of lung cancer, squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma, and explored the relationship between GPC3 expression and the prognosis of these 2 types of lung cancers. Lung cancer tissues and paracancerous tissues were collected from a total of 60 patients with lung squamous cell carcinoma or lu...

Whole exome sequencing of independent lung adenocarcinoma, lung squamous cell carcinoma, and malignant peritoneal mesothelioma

The presence of multiple primary tumors (MPT) in a single patient has been identified with an increasing frequency. A critical issue is to establish if the second tumor represents an independent primary cancer or a metastasis. Therefore, the assessment of MPT clonal origin might help understand the disease behavior and improve the management/prognosis of the patient.Herein, we report a 73-year-...

The Role of Immunohistochemistry Studies in Distinguishing Malignant Mesothelioma from Metastatic Lung Carcinoma in Malignant Pleural Effusion

Background and Objective: Early diagnosis of malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) is the key point of its treatment. The main problem is the precise diagnosis of mesothelioma and its differentiation from metastatic lung adenocarcinoma. Mesothelioma exhibits complex immunohistochemical characteristics. The aim of this study was to study hybrid immunohistochemistry in the differe...

Squamous cell carcinoma of lung with unusual site of metastasis

Background: Lung cancer ranks among the most common and most lethal malignancies worldwide. Once vascular or lymphatic invasions occur, metastatic dissemination to distant sites is common. Bone, liver, adrenals, and brain are the most frequent sites of the distant disease. In this study we present a case of squamous cell carcinoma of lung with metastasis of the left knee bursa.Case presentation...

Value of CD10 Expression in Differentiating Cutaneous Basal from Squamous Cell Carcinomas and Basal Cell Carcinoma from Trichoepithelioma

Background: In addition to the well-defined histological criteria for squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and basal cell carcinoma (BCC), immunohistochemical techniques can be used in difficult cases for their differentiation. As differential diagnosis between trichoepithelioma (TE) and BCC is sometimes difficult for the clinician and the pathologist, CD10 may be a useful marker for definite diagnosi...
